Role Summary

The Industrial Engineer 1 will be responsible for designing, improving and implementing integrated systems of people, materials, information, equipment and energy. This position will work closely with project teams to increase efficiency, reduce waste and optimize processes. All activities will be performed in support of the strategy, vision and values of JE Dunn.

  • Autonomy & Decision-Making:
    Makes decisions on non-routine matters, provides recommendations to supervisor, and refers all exceptions to supervisor.
Key Role Responsibilities

INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING FAMILY – CORE

  • Analyzes existing processes and workflows to identify inefficiencies or productivity issues and develops appropriate timelines, schedules and budgets.
  • Implements technologies and drives new processes and quality control initiatives that resolve workflow problems, maximize product or process reliability, improve productivity, reduce waste and minimize cost.
  • Identifies and implements improvements in methods, procedures, equipment, staffing or workflow that are aimed at improving productivity, process integrity and quality.
  • Facilitates process improvement and waste reduction activities using lean tools such as value stream mapping, time studies, flow diagrams, Kaizen events and SERVQUAL analysis.
  • Acts as a coach, trainer and mentor in facilitating continuous improvement opportunities focused on systems, operational processes, efficient handoffs and standardization of best practices.
  • Evaluates and analyzes ideas to reduce operating costs and increase corporate profitability through end-to-end process improvement.
  • Develops documentation and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Studies activity-based processes and conducts labor management studies to improve work methods.
  • Develops and monitors key performance indicators (KPIs) to track improvement.
  • Coordinates with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project implementation.
  • Optimizes the use of resources including manpower, materials and machinery.
  • Develops and implements inventory control systems.
  • Designs processes that ensure the safety and well-being of employees.
  • Conducts ergonomic assessments and implements improvements.
  • Collects and analyzes data to support decision-making. Prepares and presents reports on findings and recommendations.
  • Remains current on the latest industry trends and technologies.
