We are seeking an experienced Electrical Pre-Construction Designer to support pre-construction planning and electrical design coordination for complex construction projects. This role bridges field installation knowledge with design and detailing efforts, ensuring constructability, efficiency, and alignment between engineering and field execution.
The ideal candidate brings strong electrical field experience combined with an understanding of design, layout planning, and construction documentation.
Key Responsibilities- Support electrical pre-construction planning and design development activities.
- Develop and conceptualize electrical raceway layouts in a 3D environment.
- Plan overhead raceway systems, conduit routing, conduit sizing, and conduit fill requirements.
- Review and interpret vendor drawing submittals and engineered deliverables.
- Read and interpret construction drawings, including P&IDs and electrical documentation.
- Collaborate with engineering, construction, and project teams to ensure constructability.
- Assist with coordination between design teams and field construction personnel.
- Provide technical guidance and support to field crews during planning phases.
- Ensure compliance with applicable electrical codes, including NFPA 70.
- Utilize digital tools and software platforms to support design coordination and documentation.
- Maintain effective communication across multiple construction disciplines.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum 6 years of relevant electrical construction, design, or detailing experience.
- Electrical field experience installing conduit, cable tray, and related electrical commodities.
- Strong understanding of construction practices across multiple disciplines.
- Ability to read and interpret engineered drawings and vendor submittals.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam.
- Must meet company driving requirements.
- Ability to travel up to 25% as required.
- Electrical Journeyman experience strongly preferred.
- Electrical Journeyman License preferred but not required.
- Electrical design, detailing, BIM, VDC, or modeling experience.
- Experience with overhead raceway planning and installation.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD or Revit.
- Ability to visualize and coordinate systems within a 3D modeling environment.
