• Develop prototype powertrains, including engine, aftertreatment, (e) axle, transmission, and other alternative aggregates
• Plan and develop prototype bill of materials
• Coordinate assembly resources and reserve testing resources
• Drive change management for prototype powertrain batches from initiation through start of testing
• Develop and maintain modular prototype bills of materials in SAP supporting systems unique to Daimler Truck engineering
• Calculate demand and purchase quantities for prototype parts
• Coordinate bill-of-material implementation and corrections with design engineering, component testing, and prototype purchasing
• Support procurement of prototype powertrain components and spare part packages with program management and global counterparts
• Define and maintain New Prototype Process Materials Management attributes in SAP
• Lead prototype bill-of-material changes and ensure part availability with design, engineering, and series purchasing
• Assist in planning, monitoring, and managing internal prototype powertrain projects from initiation through completion
• Monitor performance and recommend schedule changes, cost adjustments, or resource additions
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Engineering Technology or relevant engineering degree with 5–7 years of relevant experience
- 2+ years of experience with SAP or related ERP solution
- Strong knowledge of Daimler Truck products
- Experience in automotive/heavy duty truck industry or related experience
- Specialized knowledge of calculation, cost analysis, and purchasing for prototype and serial parts
- Ability to independently solve complex problems with minimal guidance and identify solutions
- Ability to lead department or cross-functional programs of notable risk, resource requirements and/or complexity
- Ability to serve as a guide for others in area of expertise
- Ability to advise management and key external stakeholders on broad-ranging projects
- Experience contributing to standards in which others will operate
- Must be legally authorized to work permanently in the United States at the time of application, unless an eligible current Daimler Truck North America visa holder
- Final candidate must successfully complete a criminal background check
- Final candidate may be required to successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen
