The Estimating Manager 2:
Mechanical/Piping
- Power role is responsible for the preconstruction management process for the mechanical and piping portions for multiple and/or complex power generation pursuits. The role collaborates with preconstruction, operations, engineering partners, OEMs, trade partners, and suppliers to identify cost, constructability, schedule, procurement, and commercial risks. All activities will be performed in support of the strategy, vision and values of JE Dunn.

ESTIMATING FAMILY - CORE

• Performs quantity surveys of mechanical and piping materials and systems shown in project plans and technical documents.
• Reads and outlines project specifications.
• Maintains an audit trail of the quantity survey from estimate to estimate.
• Supports vendor/subcontractor pricing/bid solicitation and coordination.
• Supports the distribution of plans and specifications to vendors/subcontractors.
• Works collaboratively and create relationships with a variety of stakeholders, such as project team members, subcontractors, vendors and clients.
• Gains understanding of self-perform estimating.
• Gains field operational exposure through onsite project support, as opportunities exist.

In addition, this position will be responsible for the following:

• Prepares complex mechanical and piping cost estimates for site studies, competitive bids and negotiated proposals across multiple projects.
• Prepares material, equipment, labor, subcontract, and other cost summaries using vendor and subcontractor quotations.
• Reviews mechanical and piping system options during preconstruction, completes comparative cost analyses, and supports value engineering recommendations.
• Evaluates sequencing, installation approach, labor productivity, temporary systems, and schedule requirements for mechanical and piping scopes.
• Applies a thorough understanding of mechanical, process piping, plumbing, and related power generation systems to evaluate scope completeness, constructability, and value options with project stakeholders.
• Tracks value creation items from development through estimate inclusion and documents the basis, assumptions, and status within project records.
• Develops and maintains qualified mechanical and piping bidder lists aligned with project and market requirements.
• Develops and manages mechanical and piping scopes of work, responsibility matrices, bidder instructions, plan and specification distribution, and pricing coordination for vendors and subcontractors.
• Completes bid analyses and provides recommendations during vendor and trade partner selection.
• Incorporates project schedule, logistics, site conditions, work packaging, modularization, and outage or tie-in constraints into project estimates.
• Collaborates with operations, engineering partners, OEMs, and field leadership to perform constructability, coordination, and estimate reviews of project documents.
