Corporate Finance, Financial Manager
Our client is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to own budgeting, forecasting, and spend analytics for corporate shared services / overhead functions. This is a highly visible role partnering with senior leaders to drive cost transparency, strengthen controls, and support decision-making across corporate overhead spend (including IT and other shared services).
What you’ll do:
- Lead the annual shared services budget process and ongoing forecasting, including tracking decisions that impact next fiscal year line items.
- Build and maintain cost allocation and reporting standards in partnership with global and local finance stakeholders.
- Produce recurring spend reporting: actuals vs forecast vs budget, variance analysis, allocations, and shared service cost breakdowns.
- Review, approve, and allocate invoices; ensure billed amounts align to contracts and agreed spend.
- Implement and improve costing processes that support rebilling eligible expenses to legal practices and client matters.
- Analyze overhead spend to identify optimization opportunities and present actionable insights to leadership.
- Develop and maintain financial controls and approval matrices; support Procure-to-Pay governance alongside Global Procurement.
- Support project costing, projections, and ROI analysis for initiatives tied to corporate overhead investments.
- Participate in internal and third-party audits; respond to requests from senior leadership and global heads as needed.
What we’re looking for:
Must-have
- 5–7+ years in FP&A / financial reporting & analysis with clear ownership of corporate overhead cost base (shared services, IT, G&A functions, etc.).
- Proven experience partnering with overhead function leaders (e.g., IT, HR, Finance, Operations) and presenting insights to management.
- Advanced Excel skills (complex formulas, modeling, large datasets).
- Strong budgeting/forecasting, variance analysis, and control mindset.
Nice-to-have
- Power BI (or similar visualization/dashboard tools).
- Experience with IT spend or broader corporate overhead environments.
- Law firm exposure and/or understanding of revenue cycles and matter-level billing concepts.
- Thomson Reuters 3E and Chrome River experience.
- CPA strongly preferred.
What this role is not:
To stay aligned to the business need, we’re prioritizing candidates who have real depth in overhead cost management. Backgrounds primarily in Legal (practice), Wealth Management, Investments, Banking, manufacturing, or sales/revenue modeling are unlikely to fit unless the work clearly shows detailed ownership of overhead cost base within the operating/revenue model and consistent partnering with leaders running overhead functions.
- Hybrid: 2 days onsite/week, with flexibility to come in more often based on business needs.
