Financial Controller

Direct Counsel represents an Am Law 100 firm seeking an experienced Controller to oversee core accounting operations and provide operational leadership within the Finance team. This role partners closely with firm leadership to ensure financial integrity, strong internal controls, and efficient accounting processes across a multi-office platform.

• Oversee daily accounting operations, including payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash receipts
• Supervise Payroll, A/P, and A/R leadership
• Support treasury functions, cash management, and liquidity planning
• Lead and review the monthly close process, reconciliations, and reporting schedules
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and firm accounting policies
• Support internal financial reporting, audits, and tax engagements
• Drive process improvements and collaborate cross-functionally with Finance, Operations, IT, and firm leadership

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA or CPA-track preferred
• 5–7 years of accounting experience, including experience in a large law firm or professional services environment
• Prior experience managing accounting teams
• Strong knowledge of payroll, A/P, A/R, and law firm accounting practices
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
• Experience with Elite 3E and Chrome River a plus
