Overview
Description Are you a strategic and transformative leader passionate about shaping the future of a company’s financial landscape? Burns & McDonnell is seeking a finance professional with manager level experience to be a leader on our Finance Technology team to support the enterprise transformation initiative. This is a unique opportunity to drive high‑impact change, guide strategic decisions, and ensure the successful evolution of our financial processes and systems.
Key Responsibilities- Lead key discovery sessions with stakeholders across the organization and present findings and recommendations to leadership.
- Partner with Finance leadership ensuring all solutions align with our strategic objectives and have a lasting, positive impact on the business.
- Lead Strategic Finance Initiatives:
Provide leadership within the Finance department in cross‑functional enterprise transformation efforts and facilitate key decisions by ensuring finance requirements, priorities, and strategic goals are central to the program’s lifecycle. - Direct Software Evaluation & Selection:
Assist in leading the evaluation and selection process for new financial systems and tools, define and own the evaluation criteria, guide the assessment of solution capabilities, and present the final business case and recommendations to executive leadership. - Contribute to Future‑State Process Design:
Spearhead the design and planning of future‑state business processes across all key finance domains (e.g., Source to Pay, Record to Report, Contract to Close). Lead discovery sessions to identify strategic opportunities, address pain points, and define desired outcomes; provide executives with key information for prioritising and decision making. - Serve as Key Partner to Executive Leadership:
Act as the primary liaison between the Finance organisation, transformation teams, and executive stakeholders. Communicate progress, risks, and strategic recommendations concisely in executive‑level presentations. - Drive Change and Solve Complex Problems:
Champion a solution‑oriented mindset to navigate ambiguity and complexity. Proactively identify and mitigate risks, and pivot strategies based on evolving business needs, new discoveries, or changes in scope.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Public accounting, MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum eight (8) years of progressive experience in accounting or finance.
- Twelve (12) years or more is preferred with a track record of aligning stakeholders and executive leaders.
- Proven experience leading cross‑functional projects and driving change initiatives, preferably with direct experience in ERP or large‑scale system transformations (e.g., Oracle, SAP, Workday) strongly preferred.
- Exceptional presentation and communication skills, with extensive experience presenting complex information and strategic recommendations to executive leadership strongly preferred.
- Strong strategic and critical thinking skills with the ability to identify problems, develop innovative solutions, and connect details to the bigger picture strongly preferred.
- Clear evidence of change management understanding and application within a transformation strongly preferred.
- Ability to balance and prioritise multiple day‑to‑day and ongoing projects simultaneously.
- Must be expert in the use of basic computer software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and clients.
- Requires the ability to thoughtfully and positively influence, lead, and manage change.
- Must possess strong project management skills and a strategic perspective.
