The Legal Cashier provides efficient and accurate support in cashiering and bookkeeping functions as part of the North America Finance team, within the Collections department. The role focuses on supporting Canada operations and ensures timely and compliant financial processing across the region.
Responsibilities- Process and manage incoming payments by Check, ACH, and Bank Wires on a daily basis.
- Process write‑offs and service charges as requested.
- Send emails to the Collections department for allocation instructions.
- Send emails to staff members for matter numbers.
- Research Elite 3E for allocation instructions.
- Manage and rename files for the electronic document management system, iManage.
- Assist with backup per requests.
- Assist with different projects as needed.
- Education
:
High‑school diploma or GED required. Associate degree or Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field is a plus. - Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
:
Knowledge of 3E and/or Enterprise software helpful, but not required; excellent written and oral communication skills; high degree of accuracy and attention to detail; ability to work under pressure; team player with interpersonal skills; proficient with Microsoft Office Excel and Word; highest standards of ethics and confidentiality to handle sensitive information. - Experience
: 3–5 years in a relevant role; experience with Canadian tax requirements preferred; prior experience in accounts receivable or as a legal cashier preferred, ideally within a law firm or professional services environment. - Bilingualism
:
French written and verbal preferred but not required.
