Senior Safety Specialist

LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a manufacturing company Olathe, KS and assisting them with a search for an experienced Senior Safety Specialist to support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of all Health, Safety & Environmental programs across their operations. This role provides both strategic guidance and hands‑on execution to ensure regulatory compliance, strengthen safety culture, and drive operational excellence.

The Senior Safety Specialist will partner closely with site leadership and cross‑functional teams to reinforce safe work practices, reduce risk, and maintain alignment with organizational objectives. This position requires periodic travel to support 1 additional facility.

• Support the design, implementation, and ongoing management of HSE programs that align with organizational goals, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
• Serve as a resource to site leadership, offering guidance on environmental, health, and safety matters.
• Lead or support HSE‑related projects, continuous improvement initiatives, and cross‑functional safety efforts.
• Promote a strong, proactive safety culture through coaching, engagement, and on‑floor presence.
• Maintain, update, and organize all HSE documentation, processes, standard operating procedures, and reporting requirements.
• Ensure compliance with relevant federal, state, and local regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and environmental standards.
• Conduct Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
• Lead incident and near‑miss investigations, ensuring thorough root‑cause analysis and timely follow‑up on corrective actions.
• Develop and deliver training programs, including new‑hire orientation, refresher courses, and job‑specific safety training.
• Support injury and illness prevention efforts, ergonomic evaluations, and hazard‑mitigation strategies.
• Prepare and distribute safety communications, including alerts, best practices, and program updates.
• Partner with managers and employees to drive accountability, increase awareness, and reinforce expectations.
• Build productive relationships with internal teams and external service providers supporting safety programs or systems.
• Work takes place in both office and manufacturing settings.
• Exposure to moving equipment, chemicals, fumes, airborne particles, and varying environmental conditions.
• Up to 25% travel required.

• Bachelor’s degree in OHS, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or related field.
• 6-8 years of experience in HSE/EHS roles in manufacturing environments.
• Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and related safety and environmental regulations.
• Experience conducting risk assessments, JSAs, JHAs, ergonomic reviews, and incident investigations.
• Proficiency in safety reporting, data analysis, and documentation; experience with OSHA logs and regulatory submissions.
• Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to train employees at all levels.
• Ability to influence, coach, and partner with cross‑functional teams to strengthen safety culture.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and EHS management software systems.
