Do you envision finding a meaningful role with an inclusive and compassionate team? At Children’s Mercy, we believe in making a difference in the lives of all children and shining a light of hope to the patients and families we serve. Our employees make the difference, which is why we have been recognized by U.S. News & World Report as a top pediatric hospital, for eleven consecutive years.

Children’s Mercy is in the heart of Kansas City – a metro abounding in cultural experiences, vibrant communities and thriving businesses. This is where our patients and families live, work and play. This is a community that has embraced our hospital and we strive to say thanks by giving back. As a leader in children’s health, we engage in meaningful programs and partnerships throughout the region so that we can improve the lives of children beyond the walls of our hospital.

Children’s Mercy is seeking a clinical child psychologist to join our expanding Depression and Anxiety in Youth (DAY) Clinic. Ideal candidates will have expertise in the assessment and treatment of child and adolescent depression and anxiety disorders. This role will include diagnostic assessment, delivery of evidence-based individual and group interventions, and multidisciplinary collaboration with psychiatry, advanced practice nursing professionals, and clinical social workers.

The position also offers opportunities for the candidate to spend time in other general clinical child focused assessment and therapy activities outside of the DAY clinic. The innovative DAY clinic opened in February 2023 with the intent to increase community access and equity of care for mood disorders through coordinated individual and group therapy and medication intervention and interdisciplinary team management of patients.

Future program development opportunities are ongoing and there is strong community support for the program.

We are recruiting faculty at all levels of experience. Opportunities exist for leadership, community engagement and outreach, and research and quality improvement initiatives.

This position includes teaching in the hospital’s pediatric medical and psychology training programs and protected academic time for service, research, and other scholarly activities. Faculty mentoring is available for those interested in clinical scholarship (e.g., program evaluation, quality improvement initiatives). This position carries an academic appointment at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine, with rank commensurate to qualifications and experience.

Applicants for the clinical psychology positions must have:

  • A PhD or PsyD in clinical psychology, pediatric psychology, or clinical child psychology
  • Completion of an APA-accredited internship with clinical child and adolescent psychology as a major area of study
  • Relevant experience
  • Eligibility for licensure in Missouri and Kansas

Please apply online with a cover letter and your CV or send to .
