Overview
Summary: Under the direction of the department director, provides quality speech language pathology services though evaluation of patients and provides the prescribed treatment to restore function and prevent disability. Lead therapist for the Speech Language Pathology team in Acute and Outpatient Care. Primary roles include but not limited to the coordination of staffing, orientation of new staff members, key contact for SLP issues impacting Acute or Outpatients, oversight of staffing hours and productivity, as well as oversight of clinical competency, including quarterly documentation assessments.
They will lead SLP team meetings and leadership meetings involving their primary clinical areas. The candidate will see a caseload in either the outpatient or acute care arenas 50% of their time, with administrative role being the other 50% of their role. The lead SLP will be primary to clinical care in either acute or outpatient, which one will be dependent upon the candidate's area of clinical excellence.
Will report to the Director of Rehab Services and collaborate with the Director on issues and needs impacting the SLP team. The lead's schedule is Monday through Friday with hours starting at 6:30 a.m. to begin acute care staff planning. They will be involved with the holiday and weekend rotations to support Acute Care needs. The lead should have a minimum of 3–5 years of experience in a hospital-based setting for clinical care.
