When you work in Hawaii, in addition to learning about the functional aspects of running a hotel — like the proper way to make a bed or how to best handle luggage — it’s critically important to understand Hawaiian culture and the spirit of ‘ohana, or ‘family.’ When opening the first Andaz property in Hawaii, our team participated in Hawaiian culture training to help us understand what ‘ohana truly means.
To ensure that guests are offered the highest level of personalized service at all times, you will report guest complaints or problems to supervisors if no immediate solution can be found and follow up with guests. Awareness of hotel activities and proper handover of pending issues for the next shift’s follow-up and action are crucial.
You will provide courteous, professional, efficient, and flexible service at all times, perform opening and closing procedures as assigned, monitor operating supplies to reduce spoilage and wastage, and handle cash and credit card payments. A thorough understanding of all Food and Beverage services and products is essential, along with the ability to recommend Food & Beverage pairings, upsell, and cross-sell.
General responsibilities include maintaining a high standard of grooming and hygiene, fostering good rapport and working relationships with colleagues and other departments. Full support to supervisors and the team is essential, along with performing any other reasonable duties and responsibilities assigned.
QualificationsIdeally, you have a relevant degree or diploma in Hospitality or Tourism Management. No prior work experience is required. Good customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills are a must.
