Responsibilities
Kforce's client in Kansas City, MO is seeking an experienced Windows Systems Administrator with deep expertise in virtualization platforms, specifically migrating environments from VMware to Microsoft Hyper V. This role is responsible for planning, executing, and supporting virtualization migrations while maintaining the stability, security, and performance of Windows-based infrastructure. The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, Hyper V, and enterprise migration projects.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as a Windows Systems Administrator in enterprise environments
- Demonstrated, hands-on experience migrating workloads from VMware vSphere to Microsoft Hyper V
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server architecture and administration
- Experience with Hyper V Manager, Failover Clustering, and System Center (SCVMM preferred)
- Solid understanding of virtualization concepts, storage, networking, and backup/recovery
- Experience with VM migration tools and techniques (cold migrations, re-platforming, rebuilds)
- Proficiency in Power Shell for administration and automation
- Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills
- Experience with Azure or hybrid cloud integrations
- Familiarity with backup and recovery tools (Veeam, DPM, or similar)
- Experience supporting large-scale server consolidation or data center modernization projects
- Microsoft certifications (e.g., Windows Server, Azure, or Hyper V related)
- Prior consulting or client-facing experience
