IT Applications Specialist (Contract)

Position Overview

The Information Technology (IT) Applications Specialist is responsible for supporting internal customers by resolving a wide range of issues related to design and engineering applications. This role provides front-line and advanced application support across all Global Practices, Regional Offices, and Project Offices nationwide. Support is delivered through multiple channels including phone, chat, email, web submissions, and online forums.

This position requires strong technical expertise in AEC-related software, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to troubleshoot, document, and resolve complex application issues in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to incoming calls, emails, and chat sessions from internal clients to document and resolve application-related issues.
  • Troubleshoot critical problems related to design and engineering software and assist with issue resolution.
  • Communicate issue status, progress updates, and resolutions clearly to customers.
  • Perform follow-up communications to ensure customer satisfaction and issue closure.
  • Escalate unresolved or critical issues to section managers in a timely manner.
  • Research, verify, and document software defects; create and manage Service Now tickets.
  • Develop, maintain, and contribute to internal knowledge base articles.
  • Assist section managers and service owners in improving internal IT processes and workflows.
  • Remain informed of internal business processes and AEC industry application advancements.
  • Deploy, configure, and support specialized applications for various business units.
  • Conduct application testing and provide feedback to section managers, project managers, or service owners.
  • Evaluate specialized technologies and participate in product BETA programs.
  • Analyze recurring issues to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
  • Identify customer issue trends and proactively manage backlog items.
  • Monitor critical systems and services for performance and reliability issues.
  • Manage and maintain AEC software product licenses.
  • Build and maintain relationships with vendor support teams; elevate unresolved issues as needed.
  • Participate in vendor professional services engagements.
  • Provide peer-to-peer training sessions and presentations for internal customers.
  • Define criteria for benchmarking hardware used for engineering and architectural design.
  • Attend relevant local or regional user group meetings and industry conferences.
  • Identify opportunities that may lead to new or enhanced IT services.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, CAD, Engineering, or a related field and a minimum of four (4) years of professional experience troubleshooting and resolving design application issues OR
  • Equivalent applicable experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
Technical Skills & Experience
  • Strong working knowledge of AEC software platforms such as Autodesk, Bentley, Hexagon, ESRI, Revit, or other engineering/design software suites in a production environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general desktop computing environments.
