Linux Administrator

Description

Client is seeking a contractor to support a large‑scale infrastructure migration from a legacy IBM mainframe environment to a Linux‑based AWS cloud environment using Rocket Software’s Enterprise Server platform (formerly Micro Focus). This role is primarily focused on administration rather than development, supporting the infrastructure that enables legacy COBOL‑based applications to run in a modern Linux ecosystem.

Responsibilities include managing system patches, upgrades, deployments, and ensuring stability of the environment post‑migration. The individual will join mid‑project (migration currently ~1.5 years in progress with ~4 months remaining) and play a key role in both project execution and transition to steady‑state operations. The position will also involve knowledge transfer from a retiring resource and participation in upcoming technical training sessions.

Contract position based out of Kansas City, MO. Hybrid workplace. Pay range: $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
