SummaryLeads and coordinates highly complex or enterprise critical projects that architects an efficient way to manage data across a diverse but unified data tier. Designs, translates business requirements, develops, documents, tests, monitors, troubleshoots, and administrates our data environment using our data management tool sets.
Duties and Responsibilities- Designs, builds, and follows data pipelines for complex data structures encompassing data transformation mapping, data flow diagrams, logical and physical data models, and metadata collection. Accountable for developing, managing, and integrating business intelligence reporting, analytics, and data science output into business processes and workflows.
- Provides a standard common business vocabulary, express strategic data requirements, outline high level integrated designs to meet these requirements, and align with enterprise strategy and related business architectures.
- Leads planning sessions with customers to improve business processes and prioritize investments in data and infrastructure.
- Proactively analyzes existing data structures or reporting to identify weaknesses and develop opportunities for improvements.
- Leads and oversees effort to identify data requirements, develops data specifications, establishes, and enforces data governance, applies data modeling patterns, develops complex data conversion and migration designs, and develops convergence plans toward data standards.
- Accountable for developing and executing best practices for naming, governing, managing, modeling, cleansing, transforming, moving, storing, and searching all data. Ensure changes to the data environment are compliant to the architectural standards.
- Leads design and data model reviews providing constructive feedback to team.
- Maintains and ensures adherence to data quality standards and procedures. Reviews data models for data quality assurance and validates compliance with data architecture standards.
- Provides technical guidance, leadership and coaching to team members, to include sharing business acumen. Proven ability to mentor peers and identify/develop training plans and strategies to maintain technical currency.
- Bachelors degree required
- 7 or more years of direct work experience
- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
- United States Citizenship
- Ability to work on-site as directed by management and as determined by the needs of the business
- Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance (some positions require additional DOE designations)
- Proven experience developing strategic plans with the ability to articulate a clear, business-centric vision.
- Ability to identify and prioritize innovation opportunities and assess emerging technologies.
- Experience creating phased transformation roadmaps, including phases, milestones, dependencies, and sequencing.
- Broad industry knowledge across the data ecosystem: source systems, transformation, processing, storage, consumption, BI reporting, and data visualization.
- Visionary mindset with the ability to foster a culture of experimentation, supported by strong enterprise-architecture skills.
- Ability to monitor emerging threats and regulatory changes to keep the organization compliant with data-privacy, cybersecurity, and DOE-specific regulations.
- Expert-level capability defining conceptual, logical, and physical data architecture.
- Experience with data-management tools and platforms such as Informatica, Microsoft Data Services, Micro Strategy, Tableau, Denodo, and Collibra.
- Coordinate with business units for project sourcing.
- Align operations and planning activities with NNSA partners.
- Work with service-delivery managers to match technical needs with available resources.
- Ensure funding availability and planning in collaboration with Finance.
- Sync practices and roadmap direction with Enterprise Architecture & Planning (EAP).
