Job Summary We are seeking a Rocket Administrator / Mainframe Modernization Engineer to support a large-scale enterprise mainframe modernization initiative. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience administering Rocket Software or Micro Focus Enterprise Server environments while supporting the migration of legacy COBOL applications to modern cloud infrastructure. This role requires strong expertise in Linux/Unix administration, production support, and application modernization within enterprise environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer, configure, maintain, and support Rocket Software environments.
• Support application modernization initiatives by assisting with the migration of legacy mainframe applications to cloud-based infrastructure.
• Perform system installations, upgrades, patching, deployments, and ongoing environment maintenance.
• Monitor system performance, identify issues, and implement corrective actions to maintain platform stability.
• Troubleshoot production incidents and provide operational support for enterprise applications.
• Collaborate with development teams during code promotions, deployments, and release activities.
• Support testing, cutover, go-live, and post-deployment stabilization activities throughout modernization projects.
• Maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and system configuration records.
• Partner with internal engineering teams and implementation partners to support modernization efforts.
• Participate in scheduled after-hours or weekend deployment activities when required.
• Ensure system reliability, availability, and operational readiness throughout the migration lifecycle.

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on experience administering Rocket Software environments (1–2 years may be considered for highly qualified candidates).
• Experience with Micro Focus Enterprise Server, Enterprise Developer, or related application modernization platforms.
• Strong understanding of COBOL applications and enterprise mainframe environments.
• Experience supporting mainframe modernization or migration initiatives.
• Strong Linux/Unix system administration experience.
• Experience supporting production environments and resolving complex technical issues.
• Experience with system administration, deployment, environment management, and operational support.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in an operational support environment.
• Ability to support core Central Time (CST) business hours.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience migrating mainframe applications to AWS.
• Knowledge of JCL, CICS, VSAM, and IBM z/OS environments.
• Experience with application deployment, release management, and production cutover activities.
• Experience supporting enterprise application modernization programs.
• Experience working with distributed systems and cloud infrastructure.
• Hands-on experience with AWS services.
• Prior experience working directly with Rocket Software implementations.
• Experience in Retail, Financial Services, or other enterprise-scale environments.
• Familiarity with Dev Ops practices, automation, and CI/CD pipelines.
