Grounds/Custodial Team Member (Full Time)

Grounds Manager, Grounds Assistant Manager, Grounds Supervisor.

The Grounds/Custodial Team Member maintains a clean and safe environment for Zoo & Aquarium visitors. Duties include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, disinfecting surfaces, emptying trash and recycling, and attending to eating areas and playground equipment.

• Litter control in all areas: parking lots, walking paths, grassy areas, buildings, event spaces.
• Maintaining cleanliness of all facilities: restrooms, administrative areas, buildings, event spaces.
• Frequently emptying trash receptacles and recycling.
• Organizing and cleaning outside eating areas.
• Working with bodily fluids.
• Setting up, cleaning, monitoring, and tearing down special events.
• Greeting and welcoming guests; assisting with questions, inquiries, directions.
• Safely operating equipment such as trash compactors, floor scrubbers, pressure washers, orbital buffers, leaf blowers, snow blowers, extractors.
• Perform snow removal as needed.

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Ability to interact professionally with all types of people.
• Valid driver’s license desirable.
• Must be able to make immediate safety decisions.
• Can move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds with or without assistance.
• Must be able to work extended periods and continuously move/position self.
• Comfortable with possible exposure to bodily fluids (blood, vomit, urine).
• Must work flexible schedule: weekends, holidays, evenings, all weather.
• Must pass background and drug screening.
