Financial Director

EXCITING PUBLIC FINANCE/LIBRARY LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITY!

• Are you a strategic, collaborative finance executive ready to guide fiscal operations for one of the Kansas City metro's most dynamic and trusted public library systems? Mid-Continent Public Library is seeking an experienced, solutions-oriented Finance Director who will serve as the steward of an $86 million annual budget supporting lifelong learning and community access.

• The Mid-Continent Public Library District serves a vibrant and diverse region of the Kansas City metropolitan area across Clay, Platte, and Jackson counties in Missouri. This region offers a high quality of life with an affordable cost of living, diverse neighborhoods, and strong civic pride.

• Mid-Continent Public Library is a consolidated public library district governed by a 12-member Board of Trustees appointed from the counties it serves. The Board appoints the Executive Director and provides policy and fiscal oversight. MCPL delivers a full range of public library services through a professional workforce supporting lifelong learning and access to information across the region.

• The Finance Director leads the centralized Finance Department and reports directly to the Executive Director. This is not a routine finance administrator role—MCPL's next Finance Director will serve as a strategic partner to the Executive Director, Board of Trustees, and executive team.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field and at least seven years of progressively responsible experience in financial management, with at least three years in a supervisory or leadership role.
• Experience in public-sector or governmental finance.

• Master's degree in a related field.
• CPA or CPFO certification.
• Experience with bond financing, long-range forecasting, and board engagement.

• Mid-Continent Public Library is offering a salary range of $139,320 to $195,435 for this position, depending on experience and qualifications.
