About the Role
Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Slitter Machine Operator will be responsible for setting up and operating high-speed equipment with robotic elements to form or cut steel to specified dimensions and specifications.
Shift3rd Shift - 7 PM to 5:30 AM
What You’ll Do- Observe all safety and LOTO rules to operate equipment efficiently and effectively.
- Perform advanced setup and calibration of all equipment.
- Inspect materials for quality issues before, during, and after production.
- Record and report any deficiencies in quality to the supervisor/quality department.
- Maintain equipment tooling and tools necessary for job completion.
- Diagnose equipment and quality problems while minimizing scrap and delays.
- Complete reports related to production, changeovers, and scrap material.
- Assist maintenance in repairs and preventive maintenance of equipment.
- Participate in continuous improvement programs.
- Perform housekeeping tasks to keep work areas clean and safe.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
- Ability to read, write and maintain production records and logs.
- Manufacturing or related industrial experience preferred.
- Ability to perform basic math, including addition, subtraction, decimals, and fractions.
- Experience with measuring devices such as tape measure, micrometers, and calipers.
- Ability to operate forklift, crane, and other necessary equipment.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to work independently.
- Regular, full-time, predictable onsite attendance per the posted schedule is required.
- Leads and promotes health and safety work practices as required by regulatory agencies and company policy.
- Must be able to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue.
- Requires constant movement, manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina.
- Ability to remain in a stationary position for several hours.
- Ability to lift, climb, bend, stoop, push, and pull.
- Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs.
- Must be able to stand for 10–12 hours.
- Ability to perform work in a plant/manufacturing environment.
