Overview

Utilizes nursing process and knowledge of scientific principles to provide comprehensive, age-appropriate nursing care for assigned behavioral health patients. Assists with the shift supervision of nonprofessional personnel as necessary.

Because we value the safety of the patients and families we serve, as well as the Children’s Mercy staff, the seasonal influenza vaccine is a condition of employment for all employees in our organization. New employees must be willing to be vaccinated if found non-immune to measles, mumps, rubella (MMR) and chicken pox (varicella) and/or without evidence of tetanus, diphtheria, acellular pertussis (Tdap) vaccination since 2005.

If you are selected for this position, you will be asked to supply your immunization records as proof of vaccination. If you have any concerns about receiving these vaccines, medical and/or religious exemptions can be further discussed with Human Resources.

Responsibilities
  • Utilizes the nursing process to develop and implement a comprehensive, age-appropriate plan of care for patient and family which promotes optimal patient outcomes.
  • Meets the educational and informational needs of the patient and family, utilizing appropriate principles of teaching/learning.
  • Promotes safe, efficient, family-centered care.
  • Delegates nursing care based on knowledge of staff qualifications/competency and patient care requirements.
Qualifications
  • Associate’s Degree (ADN) Required. Current employees hired before September 1, 2013 are grandfathered and permitted to continue in the direct care nursing role. No Experience necessary / On-the-Job Training.
  • Bachelor’s Degree Preferred for all nurses hired after September 1, 2013. Nurses hired after this date without a BSN, must complete their degree within 5 years of their hire date.
  • One of the following:
    • Licensed RN - MO, Registered Nurse Multistate License Missouri required upon hire
    • Licensed RN - KS, Registered Nurse Multistate License Kansas required upon hire
  • Refer to Nursing and Advanced Practice Provider Licensure and Certification policy for required Life Support Certifications required upon hire.
  • Specialty Certification relevant to unit’s patient population (determined by Nurse Manager/Director) – Preferred

Starting Pay

Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $31.50/hr, but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience.

*$10,000 sign-on bonus available*
