The Regional Float ED RN will provide direct, patient-centered care across BJC hospitals in Missouri and Illinois, serving as a critical resource for emergency departments during scheduled float periods.
Role SummaryBJCs Central Staffing Office is seeking an experienced ED nurse for a Regional Float opportunity within our Long-Term Assignment program. The candidate must:
- Have 2+ years of ED experience and be willing to travel between BJC facilities in Missouri and Illinois
- Obtain an Illinois RN license
- Work scheduled 2–6 week assignments with variable locations
- Earn a competitive base salary plus: $15/hour float differential, shift differentials for nights, weekends and holidays, BSN differential, mileage reimbursement
- Complete three 12‑hour shifts, 7:00 pm–7:30 am
- Work every 3rd weekend and 2 holidays per year
- Hold a BSN (preferred)

Role PurposeA BJC Central Staffing Office nurse will float to up to 12 BJC Healthcare hospitals within medical, surgical, and telemetry units, providing direct patient care, including assessment, diagnosis, and plan implementation. The role expands nursing skills across diverse patient populations and fosters professional relationships throughout the BJC system.
Responsibilities- Promote patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance
- Participate in professional development activities
- Use evidence‑based nursing practice to develop and implement individualized care plans
- Collect assessment data, determine diagnoses, identify expected outcomes, and implement interventions
- Collaborate with interprofessional teams to coordinate care and evaluate outcomes
- Serve as a mentor and role model for nursing colleagues, students, and others
- Apply knowledge of patient needs and clinical scope of service in medical‑surgical settings
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers, ensuring culturally sensitive and ethical care
- Advocate for patient and family-centered care while maintaining safety in a constant state of alertness
- Education:
Nursing Diploma or Associate's degree in Nursing - Experience:
2–5 years of nursing experience - Supervisor

Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS) and RN
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing - Experience:
5–10 years of nursing experience
