Description:

Pediatric psychiatric facility focusing on acute in-patient behavioral health. Current staffing ratios are 1 registered nurse per 12 patients on days, nights, and weekends. Experience in a pediatric psychiatric setting is preferred. First-time applicants are accepted. Weekend coverage is required, either every Sunday shift, every Friday shift, or every other Friday shift. The clinician will not float within the scope to meet facility needs.

MANDT patient restraint certification is a requirement, which can be provided if not currently certified. Supervision and administration of care include supporting medication passes. Experience with various treatment settings, including child/adolescent care, eating disorders, and forensic settings is preferred. Knowledge of managing patients with anxiety disorders, bipolar disorders, PTSD, and self-injurious behavior is essential. Emergency care skills are required. Legal aspects concerning seclusion and voluntary/involuntary commitment must be understood.

Administering medications, including antianxiety medications and medication administration through various routes, is a key responsibility. Professional knowledge includes blood glucose monitoring and interpretation of lab values. Therapeutic approaches such as crisis intervention and managing assaultive behavior are necessary. The nurse will work in an interdisciplinary team to provide comprehensive patient care for pediatric psychiatric and behavioral health disorders. Special procedures and unit details include managing a diverse patient population with individualized care plans in a supportive environment.
