Job DescriptionAs an APRN, you’ll deliver expert, compassionate care to individuals with serious and persistent mental illnesses. Working closely with physicians and a collaborative care team, you’ll assess patients, diagnose conditions, create treatment plans, and provide both physical and psychiatric care. This role also includes occasional on‑call duties and coverage beyond your primary area when needed.
You’ll bring advanced skills in mental health, health promotion, patient education, and medical management—making a meaningful impact every day.
Key Responsibilities- Patient Care – Perform thorough assessments, diagnose accurately, and provide effective treatment and education.
- Medical Expertise – Apply advanced knowledge in both medicine and psychiatry, including medications, substance use screening, and complex symptom analysis.
- Communication – Build trust and rapport with patients, families, and colleagues. Communicate clearly across cultures, ages, and situations.
- Ongoing Learning – Stay up to date with the latest in medical practice. Actively seek education and share knowledge with peers.
- Teamwork – Collaborate seamlessly within a multidisciplinary system of care.
- Clinical Leadership – Take a lead role in guiding clinical decisions and supporting team effectiveness.
- Operational Compliance – Work with leadership to meet hospital and regulatory standards (e.g., TJC, DHSS).
- Professionalism – Show integrity, respect, and commitment in every interaction.
- Quality & Safety – Promote continuous improvement, patient safety, and cultural sensitivity.
- Customer Service – Ensure every patient experience is respectful and responsive to their unique needs.
- Policy Adherence – Follow all corporate, legal, and ethical standards, including compliance training and reporting.
- Performance Standards – Consistently meet or exceed TMC’s expectations for care and professionalism.
- Master’s in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited program
- Active RN license in Missouri and Nurse Practitioner certification
- Specialty certification (as required by Missouri Board of Nursing)
- Active Collaborative Practice Agreement
- Current BCLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- 3–5 years of clinical experience (preferably in mental health or primary care)
- Strong clinical judgment and diagnostic skills
- Leadership ability and team‑oriented mindset
- Excellent communication skills across diverse populations
- Commitment to working with individuals experiencing serious mental illness
- Ability to manage challenging patient behavior with empathy and professionalism
