Specialty areas include ENT, GI Lab, General Surgery, GYN, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Pain Management, Plastic Surgery, Podiatry, Oral Surgery and Urology.
Job SummaryUnder the direct supervision of the Pre‑Op/PACU manager, the PACU nurse is responsible for implementing all physician orders, providing continuity and quality of nursing care for all patients, with continual evaluation of patients’ condition, and ensuring patient safety, comfort, and privacy at all time. At times, the nurse assists physicians in the procedure rooms with various tasks, conscious sedation, and utilizing sterile technique as deemed appropriate.
Responsibilities- Implement all physician orders.
- Continue quality nursing care, evaluating patient condition continuously.
- Ensure patient safety, comfort, and privacy.
- Assist physicians in procedure rooms with tasks, conscious sedation, and sterile technique.
- Provide comprehensive patient care to patients emerging from general anesthesia and/or sedation.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient and family in preparation for discharge.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing school.
- Currently licensed in the state.
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
- Minimum of 2 years experience in PACU or ICU.
- Proficient nursing assessment and patient care skills.
- Thorough knowledge of perioperative process, surgical procedures, and anesthesia implications.
- Telemetry experience is necessary.
- Strong communication and human relations skills.
- Ability to organize and follow through on own initiative.
- Ability to master new skills.
- Critical Care or PACU experience.
- Work in an outpatient surgery environment.
- Work on a computer and use telephone.
- Intermittent physical mobility/activity including walking, standing, sitting.
- Light lifting, pulling, and pushing of carts and equipment; able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to bend at the waist and kneel.
