Overview

The Division of Transplant Surgery, within the Department of Surgery, is seeking a Physician Assistant to join our abdominal transplant team, a group of professionals who are committed to providing excellent care in a supportive environment. The candidate accepting this position will contribute to an active clinical and surgical practice in an education setting including medical students, surgery fellows, and residents.

A minimum of 1 year experience in pediatrics is required, experience in the operating room is preferred. If desired, a research interest will be fostered by the division and in conjunction with the new, state-of-the-art Childrens Mercy Research Institute.

The Brendan Tripp Elam Transplant Center at Childrens Mercy Kansas City was established in 2014.The CMS approved pediatric Heart, Liver and Kidney Transplant programs come together with the goal of obtaining national recognition in solid organ transplant, with a reputation that fosters and advances the scientific and industry knowledge base of organ transplantation. The collaborative team approach to care has achieved some of the best transplant outcomes in the nation.

Physician Assistants II (PA-II) provide proficient, comprehensive health care services to a defined patient population; obtaining the health history; performing a physical examination, diagnostic, and therapeutic procedures; formulating and implementing a plan of care; and participating in patient and family education. Each PA II demonstrates commitment to professional leadership and provides leadership for quality & outcomes improvement activities, clinical research or evidence based practice, and organizational development.
