Registered Nurse – Psychiatric

$1836.00/week –

Job Summary:

Provide specialized psychiatric nursing care to adolescent and adult patients in a high-acuity behavioral health unit. Deliver comprehensive assessments, crisis intervention, medication management, and therapeutic communication to promote patient recovery and safety.

Responsibilities:

• Assess patients’ mental health status by observing behavior, taking patient histories, and utilizing diagnostic tools.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans, including setting goals and evaluating outcomes.
• Administer psychiatric medications and monitor for adverse effects or reactions.
• Provide immediate crisis intervention, de-escalating aggressive or suicidal behaviors and ensuring patient safety.
• Communicate effectively with patients to build trust and rapport, utilizing active listening and empathy.
• Monitor physical and psychological symptoms, vital signs, and medication effects, documenting findings accurately.

Qualifications:

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license with current state certification.
• Active BLS and CPI certifications are required.
• Minimum of 1 year of recent experience in behavioral health or psychiatric nursing.
• Ability to assess and respond to psychiatric crises swiftly and effectively.
• Strong therapeutic communication skills and empathy.
• Knowledge of psychotropic medications and mental health treatment protocols.
