Registered Nurse (RN) - CVICU

Registered Nurse – Intensive Care (Cardiovascular/CTICU Focus)

Schedule:

36 or 48 hours per week, with 8 weekend shifts required every 6-week schedule (combination of Fri/Sat/Sun).

Requirements:

• Licensure:
  Registered Nurse
• Certifications:
  
  BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Experience:
  
  2 years in CVICU preferred; MICU/SICU acceptable
• Patient ratio experience: 2:1

Core clinical skills:

• Post-op cardiac/vascular care
• ECMO support (VV & VA), Impella, IABP, LVAD initial care
• Hemodynamic monitoring: PA (Swan-Ganz), arterial line, CVP
• Ventilator management, HFNC, fresh tracheostomy care
• Dysrhythmia recognition/management
• Titration of cardiac/vasoactive drips
• CRRT/renal failure management
• Blood product administration

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in the cardiovascular intensive care unit, including post-cardiothoracic and vascular surgery patients.
• Monitor and assess patient conditions using sophisticated medical equipment.
• Administer medications, manage intravenous therapy, and perform procedures as needed.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Educate patients and their families about care plans and procedure recovery.
• Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards in patient care practices.

• Orientation: 12 hours
• Pre-approved time off:
  Maximum 7 days
• Scrub color requirement:
  Navy blue
• Regular floating may be required between departments/units/facilities.
• Documentation deadline:
  Required by 2 Fridays before start date.
• Pre-start modules: 10–15 hours total; modules due 1 week prior to start.
• Vaccines:
  Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only).
