American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a CVICU position requiring 2 years of recent CVICU experience and a Missouri or compact RN license.
Requirements- Active RN license (Missouri or Compact) required, both Kansas and Missouri or compact license needed due to potential floating requirements
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS required; TNCC preferred
- Minimum 2 years of recent CVICU experience required, with a full year of in-specialty experience in the past 12 months and no employment gap greater than 90 days
- Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience required
- Epic charting system experience required
- Skills required include interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, CVP monitoring, epicardial pacing wire care, pre/post cardiac cath care, Swan-Ganz monitoring, sheath removal, TAVR and valve repair/replacement care
- Additional required skills include IV insulin protocols, management of liver failure, AKI, and chronic/acute renal failure, pre/post hemodialysis management, and shunt/fistula care
- Proficiency in arterial line management, central line and PICC line care, blood product administration, and continuous IV sedation required
- Ventilator management, ABG interpretation, BiPAP/CPAP management, and tracheostomy care required
- Knowledge of ACT, fibrinogen, INR, PT/PTT, infection prevention, and isolation precautions required
- First-time travelers accepted
- Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) setting within a teaching hospital and Trauma Level I facility
- 21-bed unit with an average daily census of 16
- Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (18:45-07:15)
- Weekend requirement of 8 shifts per 6-week schedule, a combination of Friday/Saturday/Sunday
- Patient ratio of 1:2
- Unit includes a 6-bed CVPACU recovering vascular and structural procedures (TAVR, Mitral Clip, Watchman) with M-F day shift recovery workflow
- Also recovers TEE/cardioversion patients
- Cares for post cardiothoracic and vascular surgery patients, post heart and liver transplant patients
- Provides ECMO support (VV and VA), Impella, IABP, and initial LVAD insertion care
- Performs CRRT and central line placements for temporary line needs
- Floating may be required between departments, units, and facilities as needed
- No on-call requirements
- Uses EPIC charting system
- Provide comprehensive critical care to complex cardiovascular, transplant, and multisystem organ dysfunction patients
- Manage advanced cardiac support devices including ECMO, Impella, IABP, and LVAD
- Navy blue scrubs required
- No local candidates accepted within a 75-mile radius
- RTO limited to a maximum of 7 days, all time-off requests must be finalized at time of submission with no additional requests after offer or onsite
- Returning staff must have a 3-month break in service after 18 months of prior assignment; former permanent employees of BJC or Saint Luke's must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
- Compliance documents due 2 Fridays before start date, with required EMR and skills modules completed prior to start
- EPIC training module or test-out option required prior to start
- Infusion pump and glucometer training must be completed by the Sunday before the start date
