American Traveler is hiring a Cardiac Telemetry RN for a 7P-7A night shift role requiring cardiac telemetry or PCU/ICU experience and NIHSS certification.
Details- >4 North Cardiac Telemetry unit within a hospital setting
- 29-bed unit with a 1:4 patient-to-nurse ratio
- Unit staffed with Charge Nurse, Unit Secretary, and PCTs
- Equipment used includes Alaris IV Pumps, SCD machines, Hill Rom beds, Dinamap monitors, Welch Allyn vital machines, wound vacs, temporary pacemakers, telemetry monitors, EKG machines, bladder scanners, and Dopplers
- Uses Meditech documentation system
- Full-time schedule required, including 3 weekend shifts per scheduling period
- Night shift, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
- Floating required to areas where competency has been demonstrated
- Active RN license (Missouri or Compact) required
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 1 year of recent cardiac telemetry or PCU/ICU experience required
- Must be able to read and interpret EKGs and telemetry strips
- Experience with post cardiac procedural care required, including ablations, cardiac catheterizations, Post-Op Day 1 open heart, and permanent pacemaker placements
- Must be able to administer and titrate IV medications such as insulin, Cardizem, Cardene, and Amiodarone
- Experience with IV insertions, NGT placement and maintenance, chest tube maintenance, temporary pacemakers, and Foley insertions
- US Social Security Number and date of birth required for consideration
- Two professional references required
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
- Provide direct patient care on a fast-paced cardiac telemetry unit
- Deliver a strong patient experience by engaging patients in bedside shift reports, using preferred names, and promptly responding to call lights
- Utilize Imobile technology for team communication
- Required to wear navy blue scrubs, with black scrub pants permitted if paired with a navy blue top
- Unit known for a tenured, family-like staff atmosphere
- Many travelers have transitioned into full-time roles on this unit
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; local candidates will not be considered
