OverviewAs a member of the Outpatient Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) team, the APPs focus is providing care to a variety of oncological, hematological, and other non-malignant disorders. This includes, but not limited to, the diagnosis and treatment of bone marrow failure syndromes, aplastic anemia, relapsed/refractory oncologic processes, immunodeficiencies, and certain genetic disorders. The APP will be a part of a team of providers and nurses, providing direct patient management which includes evaluating patients in clinic, ordering/interpreting laboratory tests, developing differential diagnoses, and implementing plans of care.
The Outpatient BMT APP is expected to work effectively with the medical team by communicating clearly with families, working well with physicians, being a resource to nursing staff, and collaborating with multiple subspecialities. We are looking for candidates who have a passion for patient care, teamwork, and an enthusiasm to grow their advanced practice career caring for the pediatric bone marrow transplant/cellular therapy population.
The APP has a variety of roles providing outpatient management of children receiving a bone marrow transplant or cellular therapy. The APP sees patients independently and in conjunction with physicians in our clinic. All these patients require close monitoring of their conditions, reviewing labs and radiologic imaging, evaluation for complications, referrals to subspecialists, and patient education. These encounters build a holistic relationship of trust that are vital to their overall health outcomes.
This role has many nuances that make it continually challenging and rewarding. We have an amazing multidisciplinary team that works closely communicating issues, collaborating new ideas and developing best care for all patients. This role is immensely rewarding as the APP develops relationships with colleagues, patients, and families!
