Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) night-shift position requiring a MO or compact RN license and 2 years of recent specialty experience.

Details
  • Work in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) of a hospital setting
  • Patient population includes Cardiac Telemetry, Neuro Stepdown, ER Holding, and MS/Tele cases
  • 1:5 patient ratio
  • Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (6:45 PM-7:15 AM)
  • Weekend requirement of 8 shifts per 6-week schedule, combination of Fri/Sat/Sun
  • Floating required across MSI units and to the ED for inpatient holding as needed
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Epic EMR experience preferred
Requirements
  • Active RN license (MO or compact) required;
    Kansas license also required due to potential floating
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of recent specialty experience with no employment gaps greater than 90 days in the past year
  • Previous Charge RN and teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and telemetry (on-unit and remote)
  • Experience with IV therapy including central line, PICC line, and peripheral line care/management
  • Experience managing chest tubes, BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, and tracheostomy care
  • Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE
  • Experience with IV insulin protocols and cardiac drip management
  • Two professional references required, one from a supervisor and one from a charge RN, both within the past year
  • SSN and finalized RTO/scheduling requests required for consideration
Additional Information
  • Provide direct patient care including cardiac monitoring, IV therapy, and respiratory support for progressive care patients
  • May be assigned Charge RN duties and holiday shifts as needed per unit requirements
  • Must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be considered
  • Maximum RTO of 7 days permitted, with no additional requests after submission
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • No travel partners accepted
  • Returning staff must complete an 18-month tenure with a 3-month break in service; former permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
  • Facility may extend an offer without an interview, though interviews can be accommodated if requested
  • Block scheduling is not available for this position
  • Pending license candidates are not accepted
