Registered Nurse Telemetry

Job Summary:

Provides specialized nursing care to cardiac telemetry patients within a fast-paced, patient-centered environment. Responsible for monitoring, administering medication, and collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities:

• Assess and monitor cardiac telemetry patients, interpreting EKGs and telemetry strips to detect arrhythmias and other cardiac issues.
• Administer and titrate IV medications such as insulin, Cardizem, Cardene, and Amiodarone, ensuring proper protocols are followed.
• Perform procedures including IV insertions, NGT placements, chest tube maintenance, and temporary pacemaker management.
• Document patient progress accurately and promptly in the Meditech system, adhering to unit policies.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and modify patient care plans.
• Educate patients and their families about post-procedure care, treatment plans, and medication management.

Qualifications:

• Valid licensure as a Registered Nurse with current state licensure.
• Minimum of 1 year of cardiac telemetry, PCU, or ICU nursing experience.
• Proven ability to read and interpret EKGs and telemetry strips.
• Must hold current ACLS and BLS certifications.
• Demonstrated competency in post-cardiac procedural care, including ablations and cardiac catheterizations.
• Excellent communication and patient engagement skills.
