Overview

As a member of the Outpatient Oncology team, the APP's focus is providing care for patients with brain tumors. This team member will also help support other pediatric oncologic diagnoses including, but not limited to solid tumors, such as sarcomas, bone tumors and kidney tumors, leukemias, lymphomas, and additional oncology diagnoses. The APP will be a part of a team of providers and nurses, providing direct patient management which includes evaluating patients in theclinic, ordering medications/chemotherapy, labs, and radiology tests, developing differential diagnoses, and implementing care coordination.

The Oncology APP is expected to work effectively with the medical team by communicating clearly with families, working well with physicians, being a resource to nursing staff, and collaborating with multiple subspecialties within the Hem/Onc Division. This role also includes providing education to the patient and families on diagnosis, side effects, and treatment plan. We are looking for candidates who have a passion for patient care, teamwork, and enthusiasm to grow their advanced practice career caring for the pediatric neuro-oncology population.

The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse I (APRN-I) provides comprehensive, evidence-based advanced practice nursing to address the physiologic, psychosocial, and developmental needs of patients and families within the framework of the collaborative practice agreement. The APRN-I participates in beginning leadership, evidenced-based practice/ research, and organizational development activities with the support and direction of an experienced APRN mentor.
