Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring strong ventilator experience and a Missouri or compact RN license.

Details
  • PCU setting within a tertiary care hospital handling MS/Tele, Cardiac Telemetry, and pulmonary stepdown patients
  • Typical patient ratio of 1:4, with rare flexing to 1:6
  • Night shift, 3x12 hours, 18:45-07:15
  • 8 weekend shifts required within Saint Luke's 6-week schedule period, combination of Friday/Saturday/Sunday
  • No on-call requirements
  • Regular floating required between departments, units, and facilities as needed
  • Epic EMR used for charting
Requirements
  • Active RN license (Missouri or compact) required, along with Kansas license due to floating requirements
  • BLS and NIHSS certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of recent specialty experience, with a full year of in-specialty experience in the past 12 months and no employment gaps greater than 90 days
  • Strong ventilator experience required
  • Experience with tracheostomy management, chest tubes, BiPAP/CPAP, and high flow nasal cannula
  • Skilled in IV therapy including central line, PICC line, and port access/management
  • Experience managing cardiac drips, heparin protocols, and PCA medications
  • Experience interpreting and managing dysrhythmias and ABGs
  • Experience with feeding tube care, renal failure, and pre/post hemodialysis management
  • Epic charting experience preferred
  • Teaching hospital and Level I Trauma experience preferred
  • Previous charge experience preferred
  • 2 professional references required, one from a supervisor and one from a charge RN, both from within the past year
  • SSN required at time of consideration
Additional Information
  • Provide comprehensive care to patients with pulmonary stepdown, ventilated/trach, COPD, and high-acuity respiratory conditions
  • Facility is a 5-time Magnet-recognized, teaching, Level 1 Trauma hospital with 456 staffed beds
  • Navy scrub color required
  • Free parking available
  • No on-call responsibilities but regular floating between units and facilities expected
  • Must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for this travel position
  • Maximum RTO of 7 days permitted, must be finalized prior to consideration
  • Returning staff must have a 3-month break in service after 18 months of prior service; former permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
