American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Home Hospice position requiring KS/MO or compact licensure and prior hospice/home health experience.
Requirements- Active RN license in Kansas and Missouri, or compact license, in hand at time of consideration
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of recent hospice/home health specialty experience within the past 12 months, with no employment gaps greater than 90 days
- Reliable transportation required for home visits
- Strong skills in pain management, symptom assessment, and end-of-life care
- Experience with medication administration, pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic pain interventions
- Familiarity with Medicare state regulations for hospice care
- Two professional references required, one from a supervisor and one from a charge RN, both from within the past year
- Home hospice position serving patients in Jackson County MO and parts of Clay, Cass, KS Johnson and Wyandotte counties
- Manages a caseload of 14-16 patients or assists other case managers with routine visits
- Average daily census of 60 patients with end-of-life prognosis of 6 months or less
- Common diagnoses include heart failure, heart disease, COPD, cancers, Parkinson's, and Alzheimer's
- Patient visits occur 1-2 times per week, typically lasting around 1 hour each
- Full-time schedule Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm, with flexibility on start/end times
- On-call required one night shift every other week
- Regular floating may be required between departments, units, and facilities as needed
- Uses EPIC for charting
- Provide comprehensive home hospice nursing care including pain management, symptom management, and end-of-life support
- Support patients and families with goal setting, education, and emotional support during end-of-life care
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility for consideration
- Maximum RTO of 7 days
- Returning staff must have a 3-month break in service after 18 months of tenure, and permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
