Landscaper; Seasonal

Under general supervision, the Seasonal Landscaper assists with the daily upkeep and maintenance of the Zoo & Aquarium’s landscaping, horticultural areas, and irrigation.

This is a seasonal position, working 40 hours a week, beginning the 1st of April and potentially running through the 1st of October. Seasonal start and end dates can vary based upon individual availability and team needs.

• Assists with maintaining the Zoo & Aquarium’s landscaping and horticultural areas, including:
  • Installing all types of plant material.
  • Maintaining annual and perennial plantings.
  • Performing turf management, which includes the use of equipment such as a mower, line trimmer, and backpack blower.
  • Weeding, mulching, trimming, leaf clean-up, and general landscape preparation/maintenance.
  • Irrigation and supplementary watering.
  • Possible snow removal.

• EDUCATION & FORMAL TRAINING: Must be 16 years of age or older.
• EXPERIENCE: At least 1 prior season of landscape maintenance or related work preferred. Knowledge and experience using gas powered lawn and horticultural equipment preferred.

  MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  
  Valid driver’s license preferred. Must be able to lift 50 pounds with or without assistance. Must be able to operate gas powered equipment, such as line trimmers, lawn mowers, backpack blowers and edgers. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including occasional weekends, holidays, and evening hours, in all weather extremes. Must pass a background and drug screening.
