The Sauka-Spengler lab at the Stowers Institute for Medical Research is seeking a highly motivated Research Technician to participate in multiple projects using molecular embryology and single-cell genomics approaches. The lab uses a range of model organisms, including zebrafish, chicken, killifish, and ascidians, to study gene regulatory circuitry underlying developmental processes.
The successful candidate will primarily work with other lab members to apply epigenomic and transcriptional single-cell assays to investigate gene regulatory circuitry in specific cell types, such as pigment cells, and at defined developmental stages, such as the onset of neurulation in zebrafish embryos. This research combines embryological techniques, molecular cloning, single-cell genomics, multiplexed fluorescent in situ hybridization, generation of transgenic lines, and phenotypic and genetic analyses using mechanistic gene perturbations, single-cell profiling, and high-resolution imaging.
Responsibilities Include:Assisting scientists with experiments
Recording and tracking experimental data
Maintaining laboratory equipment and reagents
Participating in laboratory meetings and reading relevant scientific literature
Pursuing opportunities for independent research projects as experience is gained
B.S. or B.A. degree in an appropriate scientific field, including but not limited to molecular biology or biochemistry
General laboratory experience in molecular biology
Strong analytical, organizational, and computer skills
Motivation and ability to learn new techniques and perform tasks independently
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work effectively and independently
