The Department of Ophthalmology seeks outstanding candidates for full-time Research Assistant or Senior Research Assistant positions at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine. The selected candidates will be responsible for assisting with preclinical research, neuroscience, physiology, histology and microscopy experiments as part of newly NIH-funded research projects. This involves preparing biological and other specimens for imaging and neuroscience, preclinical, physiological and biochemical testing and to acquire and analyze related data.
These positions will assist in maintaining preclinical research, physiology, histology and microscopy equipment, order routine supplies, prepare technical reports and archive data. This research position will be part of a highly qualified research group to advance ocular research in further hopes of developing cures/treatment for vision degenerative conditions.
This is a 12-month full-time contract, benefit eligible, unranked academic position.
QualificationsTo qualify as a Research Assistant, minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of experience in neuroscience, preclinical research, physiology, histology and/or in microscopy techniques.
To qualify as a Senior Research Assistant, minimum qualifications include a Master’s degree in a related medical or field of science and 2+ years of experience in neuroscience, preclinical research, physiology, histology and/or in microscopy techniques.
Experience in preclinical research and physiology is a preferred qualification
Anticipated Hiring RangeThe anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $18-00 -$30.00/hourly.
Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual’s particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
