A well-established, privately owned industrial equipment company in Kansas City is seeking an Account Manager (Inside Sales) to play a key role in supporting order processing, vendor coordination, and customer account management. This is a high-impact inside sales position within a stable organization that has been in business for over 35 years.
This role is ideal for someone with a mechanical or industrial background who thrives in a fast-paced environment, operates with urgency, and takes pride in organization and accuracy. The long-term goal for this individual is to independently manage customer accounts and grow a defined territory.
Responsibilities- Manage order processing from quote through shipment, including confirmations, purchase orders, and documentation
- Communicate consistently via email and phone with vendors and customers to ensure timely fulfillment
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships within assigned territory
- Maintain detailed knowledge of industrial equipment products and replacement parts
- Ensure accurate data entry within a proprietary internal system
- Analyze customer purchasing history to anticipate needs and identify upsell opportunities
- Monitor open orders and follow up to ensure shipping deadlines are met
- Source appropriate vendors to fulfill customer requirements
- Support the sales team with administrative and operational tasks
- Conduct occasional outbound outreach to dormant or prospective customers
- Participate in trade shows (1–2 annually)
- 3–5 years of experience in account management, inside sales, or industrial sales preferred
- Mechanical or industrial equipment familiarity strongly preferred
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- High sense of urgency and responsiveness
- Proficiency in data entry and Microsoft Office
- Ability to learn and navigate proprietary systems
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment
- A degree is not required; experience and cultural fit are prioritized.
We are seeking someone who is organized, responsive, and motivated to grow within a long-standing industrial organization. This role requires strong follow-through, accountability, and the ability to manage details without losing sight of customer relationships. Outside sales backgrounds are not the right fit; this is a true inside sales and account management position.
