Job DescriptionSAFETY & SECURITY – CAMPUS SUPERVISOR
Purpose StatementThe job of Campus Supervisor is done for the purpose/s of providing support to the instructional process with specific responsibilities for the safety and welfare of students during classroom and non‑classroom activities; monitoring personnel and/or visitors; communicating information in response to inquires; minimizing the frequency and severity of harmful incidents: and communicating observations and/or incidents that have a potential impact on the general well being of students, school personnel and visitors.
EssentialFunctions
- Communicates safety and security policies and enforcement procedures to students, staff and visitors (e.g. Ensures doors are not propped open; doors are locked; students are accounted for; unauthorized visitors do not enter; all visitors produce needed documentation, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring their understanding of such information and the potential consequences of violation.
- Covers entire building, interior and exterior (e.g. Stays mobile and continually monitors and assesses building occupancy, climate and security., etc.) for the purpose of providing a safe and positive environment.
- Escorts students, assigned personnel and/or visitors (e.g. student escorts from class to office/restroom; escorts visitors to specified areas in the building, etc.) for the purpose of providing direction and ensuring their safety while on campus.
- Intervenes in potential conflicts and emergency situations (e.g. De‑escalating student disputes; assisting students in emotional/mental crisis, radioing for admin, etc.) for the purpose of minimizing disruptions of campus activities and/or injury to involved parties.
- Monitors student behavior while on campus; parking lots; entry doors (e.g. monitoring live security cameras; monitoring student locations if not in class (Power School); checking parking lots for loitering or truant students; monitoring entire site for unauthorized persons, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring student compliance with established guidelines, maintaining a safe and positive learning environment, and secure facility.
- Participates in unit meetings, in‑service training, workshops, etc. (e.g. job related Professional Development training; CRT meetings; CPR training, etc.) for the purpose of being effective, efficient, competent and ready to respond to any issue or emergency.
- Patrols campus facilities, grounds and adjacent areas during and between assigned periods and at student events (e.g. lunch room, classrooms with substitutes, detention, dances, after hours activities and athletic events, parking lots, exterior building perimeter, locker rooms, restrooms, etc.) for the purpose of monitoring student, staff and visitor compliance with established guidelines to maintaining a safe and positive learning environment and secure facility.
- Prepares written materials (e.g. incident reports, correspondence, escort plans, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information.
- Provides traffic and parking control; student mentoring and support; administration/staff support (e.g. Assists with dismissal procedures; assists students in crisis; relieves staff of unruly students disrupting classrooms; security presence in all areas during school day and at after hours events., etc.) for the purpose of maintaining efficient traffic flow and use of parking lots; maintaining a sense of security and calm in the building;
provide guidance to students and staff. - Refers incidents including personal injuries, altercations, suspicious activities, rule violations, etc. to appropriate site personnel (e.g. fights; truant students; eloped students; illicit activity; unauthorized persons or vehicles; suspicious activity; unsafe conditions, word of mouth or social media threats, etc.) for the purpose of taking preliminary…
