SummaryThe Security Lieutenant II supervises protective force personnel and implements Department of Energy (DOE) security requirements necessary to protect all Kansas City Plant facilities, classified material, and personnel within areas of responsibility to preclude unauthorized access, conversion, theft, or intentional destruction. This position has both armed and unarmed security force accountabilities.
Duties and Responsibilities- Supervises the personnel engaged in the Protective Forces function for the company and their day-to-day security operations.
- Investigates unusual incidents and directs activities at emergencies.
- Assists in the development and implementation of access and perimeter control operational procedures, conveying and verifying security requirements.
- Implements corrective actions and upgrades to physical and technical security posture of the facility.
- Supervises assigned personnel in security areas, initiates corrective actions and completes daily activity reports.
- Ensures safety of personnel by checking and monitoring the use of PPE by security personnel.
- Responsible for review and implementation of Protective Force emergency and non-emergency procedures.
- Participates in Emergency Response exercises and related activities.
- Coordinates security requirements and participates in security planning of various on-site construction projects.
- Participates in Protective Force administrative and operational matters with management, union officials, local law enforcement and client/customers to ensure continuity of operations.
- Supervises the handling of demonstrators and perpetrators.
- Supervises the activities and provides leadership direction to the professional, technical and support staff within the organizational unit.
- Assumes responsibility for plant operations when other senior management personnel are not present.
- Conducts protective force training including tactical response and firearms.
- Bachelors Degree in related field of study, or 2 additional years of direct work experience.
- 2 or more years of experience in the armed forces security, military police or with law enforcement, public or private sector security organization.
- Ability to travel up to 5% of the time.
- Ability to work on-site as directed by management and as determined by the needs of the business.
- Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job.
- Ability to obtain and maintain, a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance (some positions require additional DOE designations).
- At least 1 year experience as a Security Police Officer at FM&T or equivalent preferred
- Knowledge of physical security systems and ability to supervise plant protection personnel.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid state driver's license.
- Must meet DOE Firearms and Physical fitness standards and comply with all applicable legal statutes. Must be able to perform duties wearing personal protective equipment.
- Must maintain current certification to the level of training delivered.
- Ability to prepare lesson plans, evaluate trainees, review and implement Contractor Operating Requirements and associated procedures and plans, support Performance Testing and Firearms Program.
