Responsible for performing skilled aerial line construction and maintenance work for telecom infrastructure, ensuring safe and efficient installation while adhering to industry standards and client specifications. The Lineman serves as the lead technician on aerial construction sites, directing groundmen and taking responsibility for overall work quality and crew safety.
Responsibilities- Execute aerial construction activities including pole climbing, equipment installation, and cable placement according to specifications and safety protocols.
- Lead and direct groundmen in supporting aerial work operations.
- Interpret and follow construction plans, blueprints, and design maps.
- Operate utility trucks, bucket trucks, and specialized equipment such as tensioners and cable pullers.
- Ensure proper installation according to National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) standards and industry practices.
- Identify and resolve field issues during construction activities.
- Perform quality checks of completed work to ensure compliance with client specifications.
- Document work progress, material usage, and any field challenges.
- Maintain strict adherence to safety protocols and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Set up appropriate traffic control and work zone safety measures.
- Train and mentor groundmen in proper techniques and safety practices.

Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Lineman technical certification or completion of a recognized lineman apprenticeship program preferred
Safety certifications
- CPR/First Aid
- OSHA 10/30
- Work zone safety
Valid drivers’ licence for the specified vehicle(s)
Experience
- 3+ years of experience in aerial line construction
- Experience working with telecommunications and/or power infrastructure
- Demonstrated expertise in pole climbing and aerial work techniques
- Experience reading and interpreting construction plans and design maps
Exposure
- Comprehensive knowledge of NESC standards and industry practices
- Understanding of telecommunications infrastructure and components
- Familiarity with aerial construction equipment and specialized tools
- Knowledge of proper rigging and lifting techniques
- Experience with traffic control and work zone safety requirements
