Installation Technician – Reman

Location: Kansas City, MO
SUMMARYResponsible for performing heavy duty modifications and upfits on trucks and truck‑mounted equipment, plus vehicle repair and maintenance work in accordance with Custom Truck and factory standards under the general direction of the Used Equipment Installation Manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Installation and removal of different types of truck bodies and equipment on new and used chassis.
- Installation of electrical or hydraulic components.
- Perform work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with Custom Truck and factory standards.
- Fabrication and installation of components related to truck equipment installations.
- Keeps shop area neat and clean and be able to account for all tools at all times.
- Uses and maintains all necessary shop equipment required to complete any repairs or PM inspections.
- Disposes of used oil, grease, antifreeze and filters in the assigned location to insure EPA compliance.
- Cleans and properly equips assigned area to perform all necessary repairs to equipment.
- Attend factory-sponsored training classes.
- Ensures that customers’ trucks are kept clean.
- Works with all departments in harmony.
- Must have a working knowledge and understanding of the Company’s Job Safety policies pertaining to this position. Attends and participates in Custom Truck safety training classes.
- Welding and fabrication.
- Knowledge of 12V electrical systems including multi‑plex wiring.
- Basic understanding of truck mounted hydraulic systems and installation procedures.
- Ability to follow both written and verbal installation instructions.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEASE certification preferred. One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. General mechanical skills required.
LANGUAGE SKILLSAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to communicate effectively before individual customers or groups of customers or employees of organization or parent organization.
OTHERSKILLS AND ABILITIES
Highly detail oriented and organized in work. Acceptable written and oral communication skills. Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with a customer service focus with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving and results. Must have initiative and the ability act and operate independently with minimal daily direction from manager to accomplish objectives. Must possess a strong desire to learn.
Mechanical skills/experience with heavy trucks and heavy equipment are a plus.
While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally required to walk; to climb stairs and ladders, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is required to sit. The employee is regularly required to move about the facility. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
The employee is required to seek assistance in the lifting of more than 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme cold, and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Work well within a matrix organization.
