Overview
The Tower foreman supervises and performs construction duties on telecommunication sites daily. They supervise subcontractors and job site personnel, ensuring the scope of work is completed safely and on time.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Lead and direct a crew of 2-4 members.
- Make recommendations for hiring, firing, training, promotions, and compensation.
- Maintain a full understanding of the scope of work (SOW), method of procedures (MOP), and create detailed MOPs.
- Schedule employee work hours, plan and direct crew tasks, and determine appropriate techniques.
- Maintain job records and control job budgets.
- Work with the Superintendent or Construction Manager to determine materials, equipment, and tools required.
- Read, interpret, and build according to design site plans and layouts.
- Control the flow and distribution of materials and supplies.
- Manage job data in Betacom tools (Site Manager) and other custom tools.
- Ensure the safety and security of employees and company assets; conduct inspections of entire installs, troubleshoot problems, and capture closeout packages.
- Assist in handling employee complaints, grievances, discipline, and probation according to company policy and law.
- Ensure crew safety compliance with company and customer safety requirements, inspect all tools and rigging gear.
- Report any work‑related injuries or incidents.
- Carry out related tasks such as timesheet and record keeping, completing job safety analysis, adjusting equipment and tools.
- Apply tower climbing, construction equipment, and working near energized lines safety procedures.
- Certified and experienced with test equipment (Anritsu sweep gear, PIM gear, fiber testing, etc.) and tower rigging techniques.
- Proficient in troubleshooting radio and microwave system issues, including RETs, GPS, VSWR, etc., and completing closeout packages.

Knowledge,Skills and Abilities
- Highly proficient in all aspects of telecommunication tower maintenance and construction.
- Ability to train and supervise employees in: tower climbing, rigging, installation and modification of sector mounts, T‑booms, platforms, banding of monopoles.
- Installation, testing and repair of antennas, TMA’s, duplexers, surge arrestors, coax, elliptic cable, grounding, lightning suppression, ice bridges.
- Running and interpreting tests for fiber, PIM, sweep tests, and RET systems.
- Using GPS alignment tools and microwave dish alignment and trouble‑shooting.
- Reading and interpreting technical journals, procedures, regulations.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to present information to managers, clients, and regulatory personnel.
- Strong organizational abilities and accurate reporting to Superintendents or Tower Construction Managers.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Four or more years of related tower and construction experience and/or training.
- Good communication, reading, and writing skills in English.
- Computer skills:
Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook). - Clean driving record and valid driver’s license with reliable transportation.
- Ability to accommodate out‑of‑town travel if required.
- Knowledge of basic hand tools, mechanical equipment, and electro‑mechanical equipment.
- Training:
Com Train, OSHA 30, RF Awareness, First Aid/CPR. - Experience with Anritsu Site Master, AOPEN, PPC, tower mapping, antenna equipment, stacking self‑support towers, waveguide, antenna, microwave dishes.
- Organized and effective in reporting verbally and in writing.
- Valid RFA awareness, replacement and maintenance experience for coax, jumpers, TMA’s, connectors, weatherproofing.
- Regularly stand, use hands, reach, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, walk, and occasionally sit.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 75 pounds, frequently up to 100 pounds, occasionally more than 100 pounds.
- Vision requirements: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
- Regularly works near moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; outside weather; wet/humid; extreme heat.
- Exposure to electrical shock, vibration, fumes, airborne particles, chemicals, and cold.
- Moderate noise level.
