Reports To: The athletic director who provides overall objectives and final evaluations in conjunction with the building administrator.
Job Goal: To help each participating student achieve a high level of skill, an appreciation for the values of discipline and sportsmanship, and an increased level of self-esteem.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Assists in the coaching of individual participants in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in the sport involved.
- Assists in planning and scheduling a regular program of practice in season.
- Works closely with the athletic director and Head Coach in scheduling interscholastic contests.
- Recommends purchase of equipment, supplies, and uniforms, as appropriate.
- Maintains necessary attendance forms, insurance records, and similar paperwork.
- Oversees the safety conditions of the facility or area in which assigned sport is conducted at all times that students are present.
- Establishes performance criteria for eligibility in interscholastic competition in the coach’s sport.
- Enforces discipline and sportsmanlike behavior at all times, and establishes and oversees penalties for breach of such standards by individual students.
- Assists in organizing and supervising a total sports program.
- Demonstrates effective human relations and communication skills.
- Complies with all district rules, regulations, and policies.
- Regular and consistent attendance is an essential function of this position.
- Other duties as required or assigned.
Terms of Employment: Salary and work calendar to be established by the Board.
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluations utilizing the Performance Based Support Staff Evaluation process.
