A higher education organization is seeking an Accounting Coordinator to support student accounts and the accounting department with billing, payments, bookkeeping, receipts, reconciliations, and account updates. This role is a great fit for someone with billing, accounts receivable, bookkeeping, payment processing, or general accounting support experience who enjoys detailed accounting work while also communicating with students, internal departments, and outside parties.

Job Details Responsibilities
  • Support student accounts, billing records, account balances, and payment activity
  • Assist with billing adjustments related to payments, refunds, financial aid, schedule changes, drops, and other account updates
  • Process receipts and ensure funds are applied to the proper accounts
  • Help maintain accounts receivable records, billing activity, collections, and payment follow-up
  • Reconcile account balances and help ensure billing/accounting data is accurate
  • Monitor billing reports and help maintain accurate records within the accounting system
  • Prepare backup documentation for refunds and payment activity
  • Communicate with students, internal departments, and outside parties regarding billing or account questions
  • Assist with general bookkeeping, accounting, and administrative support as needed
Qualifications
  • 1+ year of experience in computerized accounting, bookkeeping, billing, accounts receivable, payment processing, or related office accounting environment
  • 1+ year of experience working with the public or in a customer-facing role
  • Knowledge of accounts receivable processes preferred
  • Strong data entry, keyboarding, and Windows computer application skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to stay organized and accurate during busy periods
  • Exposure to fund accounting preferred
  • Jenzabar Higher Education Software experience is a plus
  • Some college-level accounting and/or computer coursework preferred
  • Certificate or degree in accounting or business preferred
