We are seeking a responsible and detail-oriented professional to join our team as a Cost Accountant in our Lawrence, KS location.
Position SummaryThe Cost Accountant will be responsible for accounting for the cost of sales, inventory item cost, perpetual inventory value, project tracking and variance analysis.
Wage and ScheduleThe schedule is Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM CST. Some travel and off‑shift inventory events required.
Essential Functions- Responsible for daily work order processing and analysis.
- Work with shop floor to reduce or eliminate work order errors.
- Pull hours files to calculate units per labor hour (daily/weekly/monthly).
- Monthly journal entries and P&L review.
- Involved with Product Council to review projects.
- Maintain IL/GL integrity.
- Obsolete inventory analysis.
- Variance analysis.
- Review PPV reports weekly/monthly.
- Cost reporting and tracking on all projects.
- Perform annual standard cost roll.
- Perform cost quotes for district managers, vice presidents, and field personnel.
- Calculate and present monthly door cost to purchasing, sales, and president of the company.
- Perform all assigned duties safely.
- Perform other duties as assigned by manager.
- Daily work order processing and analysis – working with shop floor to eliminate errors.
- Ensuring the cost of our product is accurately reflected in the system.
- Annual cost roll.
- Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
- Prolonged use of keyboard and computer.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs. periodically.
- Frequent use of fine motor skills for writing, and computer work.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of manufacturing cost accounting experience.
- Working knowledge of integrated computerized financial accounting systems.
- In‑depth Excel experience – ability to create formulas, pivot tables, and reports.
- Knowledge and experience with writing letters, faxes, and memos in Word and producing spreadsheets in Excel.
