Accounting Specialist/Accounting Assistant
Colby Community College (CCC) invites applications for a full-time Accounting Specialist
- Accounts Payable or an Accounting Assistant
- Accounts Payable to assist with the daily operations of the College's accounts payable function.
The College has one vacancy and will fill the position either at the Accounting Specialist or the Accounting Assistant level based on the qualifications, education and experience of the selected candidate.
SALARY RANGEThe compensation package for this full-time, hourly position will depend on the level it is filled at:
- The salary range for the Accounting Specialist is $21.00 - 22.50
- The salary range for the Accounting Assistant is $19.00 - $20.50
The selected candidate will also be eligible to participate in the College's health, dental, and vision plan, as well as the State of Kansas KPERS retirement system. This position is also eligible for relocation/moving expenses up to $2,000.
QUALIFICATIONSTo qualify for the Accounting Specialist:
- Associate degree or two years of directly related experience is required.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Experience working in accounts payable and processing invoices, purchase orders, and expense reports and working with W-9's and 1099.
To qualify for the Accounting Assistant:
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least 6 months of experience in finance/accounting is preferred.
- Manage and process all accounts payable transactions, ensuring timely and accurate payments to vendors, contractors, and service providers.
- Review invoices, purchase orders, and expense reports for accuracy, proper coding, and approval authorization.
- Maintain vendor records and ensure compliance with W-9, 1099, and other regulatory documentation requirements.
- Ensure compliance with College financial policies, internal controls, and applicable state and federal regulations.
- Maintain accurate documentation for audits and assist auditors during annual reviews.
- Prepare and process year-end closing entries and tasks related to accounts payable.
- Monitor spending trends and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and cost control.
- Support training for faculty and staff on expense reporting and procurement procedures.
- Assist in tracking of all fixed assets activity
- Reviews and processes all accounts payable transactions to ensure timely, accurate payments.
- Reviews invoices, purchase orders, and expense reports for accuracy, proper coding and approval authorization
- Reviews accounts payable transactions and resolves discrepancies promptly and elevates more complex issues
- Reviews aging reports and manages payment schedules
- Assists in implementing and maintaining electronic payment and recordkeeping systems
- Collaborates with auditors, vendors, and other external parties to resolve payment or compliance issues.
