Location: Wright

Airswift is looking for a Substation Superintendent to join one of our clients in Wright, KS, for an initial 1-year assignment, with long-term opportunity in other projects.

Airswift is seeking a Substation Superintendent to serve as the Owner’s Representative overseeing EPC activities on utility scale wind and solar projects. This site-based role is responsible for safety leadership, quality oversight, schedule execution, and cost tracking.

Job Responsibilities
  • Provide on-site and remote oversight of substation construction activities.
  • Monitor contractor performance to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, schedules, and quality requirements.
  • Enforce adherence to company safety programs, OSHA requirements, and site-specific safety plans.
  • Ensure contractors comply with excavation safety, confined space, fall protection, and energized work procedures.
  • Participate in safety meetings, audits, and incident investigations.
  • Track construction progress against the overall project schedule.
  • Review contractors change requests and field modifications.
  • Ensure all work meets engineering standards, utility specifications, and industry best practices.
  • Coordinate inspections, punch list activities, and readiness for electrical testing and energization.
  • Support commissioning and turnover by verifying documentation is complete and accurate.
Education/

Experience:
  • 5+ years of substation construction experience.
  • Experience working as an owner’s representative or overseeing EPC and subcontractors.
  • Ability to read and interpret civil, structural, and electrical drawings and specifications.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations, utility safety standards, and environmental compliance requirements.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
